Built in 2008 at the initiative of Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia, the building that now serves as the nerve center of city government services has also become the top spot for locals and tourist who fine the fountain with its esplanade, park, open space and a circle of greenery ideal for family outings, health and wellness activities. Also serves as playground and a venue for major city programs and functions.


NEGROS MUSEUMS

Its blend of artwork and artifacts will give you insights into the past, present and the future of the province. Also called the Sugar Museum, it houses bits, pieces and artifacts that explain how the sugar industry found its way to Negros, became the economic lifeblood, paintings and historical photos.


PANAAD PARK AND STADIUM

A 25-hectare park and sports complex with a rubberized oval tract and is considered one of the best in the country: site of national regional. Hosted a few international sports competition, it also the host venue of the yearly PANA-AD Festival.


THE RUINS OF TALISAY

Is what remained of the grand European mansion built by Don Mariano Lacson in honor of his first wife, Maria Braga. The love story behind the mansion has made its reputation as the “Taj Majal” of Negros.


RELIGIOUS TOURS

BRGY. SANG VIRGEN CHAPEL

Its 9 x 21 ft. altar mural is made 95,000 squares of shell mosaic depicting the Blessed Virgin in a Filipiniana holding the Child Jesus. Its chandelier, images and sacristy are also made of shells forming or pattern of colors. The shells abound in the shore of Negros.


SAN SEBASTIAN CATHEDRAL

The construction of the church in 1876 was initiated by the recollected Friar Fr. Mauricio Ferrero. It became a cathedral in 1933, its interior is a combined Graeco-Roman and Neo Renaissance Design while the façade is made up of coral stones from nearby Guimaras Island.


POPE JOHN PAUL II TOWER

Located at the reclamation area, this 7-storey tower is a landmark of the historic visit of Pope John Paul II in Bacolod on February 20, 1981. The tower house relics, memorabilia, books and souvenir items of Pope John Paul II. The topmost floor gives one a breathtaking overview of the city.


ST. JUDE THADDEUS

Is the Patron Saint of the hopeless and desperate. This parish church and shrine started as a small chapel within a subdivision in Brgy. Alijis. The decision to build a church for the increasing devotees of the St. Jude became a reality with donation of 5,391 hectare lot of family of Engr. Mario Macainan while the design of the church was rendered free by arch. Ramiro Garcia.

ANP SHOWROOM (ASSOCIATION OF NEGROS PRODUCERS)

The ANP maintains the Negros showroom, which has been declared be the Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotions as the No. 1 trade house in the Philippines. The Negros Showroom displays the products of the ANP member-producers and serves as their business center.


BACOLOD SHOWROOM, PASALUBONG AND GIFT SHOP

Located at the Ground Floor of the old City Hall. It showcases the MassKara-based One Town One Product items of the members of the city cooperative.

DIVING

BIRD WATCHING IN PULUPANDAN

Bird Watching in Pulupandan Bird Watching in Pulupandan

The Waterbirds of Pulupandan, Negros Occidental located in Sitio Cavan, Brgy. Tapong, Pulupandan were surveyed from August to September 2009 and February to April 2010. A total of 46 species were known, including the globally threatened species (Vulnerable), the Philippine duck Anas Luzonica. The Northern Pintail, Anas Acuta, an uncommon migrant previously known from Luzon, the Javan Pond Heron, Ardeola Speciosa, a resident from Mindanao, are new records for Negros. Notations were made as to qualification of the area as a wetland of international importance under the criteria of the Ramsar Convention.

How to get to the bird watching area?

Go and Register in the Municipal Hall where a guide will be provided.
There are three (3) routes to reach the area:

Via Land

    • Thru Brgy. Culo to Sitio Cavan via town proper.

(Note: Route slippery during rainy season andit’s recommended to bring a small wheel based vehicle pref. 4WD during wet season.)

  • Or Take a tricycle during ordinary times

Via Boat

  • Via Lag-asan (under Bago bridge)
  • Via Bago boulevard (Bantayan Park)

BEST TIME FOR BIRD WATCHING

  • YEAR ROUND 4-6 a.m. ; 3-6 p.m.
  • Breeding plumage March to Sept.
  • Non breeding plumage Oct. to Feb.
