The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental and the City Government of Bacolod will jointly host this year’s Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) National Convention slated October 2-4 with the theme, “Tourism and Development in the Community”.
Delegates from all over the country will arrive October 2 to attend the opening ceremony at 6:00 p.m. sponsored by Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon, Jr. at the Bacolod Pavillon Convention Hotel.
Activities lined up for October 3 include organic farm tour, culture and heritage tour, marine ecotourism tour, and nature adventure tour in the different tourist attractions of Negros Occidental as well Bacolod City Night hosted by the City of Government of Bacolod at the People’s House at 6:30 p.m.
The plenary program will be held at L’Fisher Hotel with talks on “Ensuring Competitiveness and Effective Strategies in Promotions and Marketing of Community-Based Tourism Products” by Miguela M. Mena, Dean of the University of the Philippines – Asian Institute of Tourism; “Innovative Approaches in Mainstreaming Gender and Development (GAD) in the Tourism Sector” by Juline R. Dulnuan, Director of Division of Academic Affairs, University of the Philippines – Asian Institute of Tourism; and “2015 ASEAN Visit Philippines Year: Advancing the Unique Brand of Philippine Tourism Destinations and Hospitality Experience” by Domingo Ramon C. Enerio III, Chief Operating Officer, Tourism Promotions Board.
Department of Tourism Secretary, Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr. is scheduled to lead the Pearl Awards 2014 ceremony to be hosted by Department of Tourism –Region 6 on Friday, October 4 at L-Fisher Hotel. /Capitol News
